Can You Experience Philosophy?

On Monday, 7 September, members of the YouthGovAI project team had the opportunity to visit Aitherion, an interactive exhibition that brings philosophical questions to life through participation, experience and dialogue.

Colleagues from Eurosoc#Digital, Alfa Liguria and NCSRD stepped into the exhibition’s interactive world. They explored its exhibits and, most importantly, took the time to reflect, question and debate some of the fundamental issues of philosophy: citizenship, justice and morality.

From riddles and the trial of Antigone to Socrates’ death sentence and the Dilemma of Gyges, the exhibits invited the team to confront questions that may be ancient in origin, but remain relevant today. They also offered an opportunity to explore questions closely connected to the themes of YouthGovAI, including how we make decisions, what we consider just or ethical, and what it means to be an active citizen.

Rather than simply discussing philosophy, the team had the chance to experience it together, to take different positions, challenge assumptions and engage in lively discussion.

The visit preceded the beginning of YouthGovAI’s first transnational project meeting and provided an energetic and dynamic start to the days of collaborative work that followed, with representatives from across the YouthGovAI consortium coming together in Athens and participating online.
