YouthGovAI Taking the Stage in 2025

YouthGovAI’s mission is to empower Young People and theYouth sectorto actively shape EuropeanAI governance.

Throughout 2025, the project actively participated in International Conferences and Education events worldwide.

  • Dr. Dora Katsamori, on behalf of NCSR-D, participated in the European Festival of Civic Education: HOPE, at Oslo, on September 1-7, 2025. Dr. Katsamori presented the YouthGovAI project objectives to a vibrant community of practitioners, educators, and activists from over 40 countries. The event was co-organized by the European Wergeland Centre. Μore information about the Festival is available here.
  • The Eurosoc#DIGITAL team participated in the symposium “Europäisch lernen – mit Mut in die Zukunft”, organised by the EuropaPunktBremen. The event took place on September 2, 2025, gathering educators, policymakers, and innovators to explore the future of European education and the importance of engaging methods and content in empowering young learners.YouthGovAI’s participation included leading a workshop and engaging in inspiring discussions with teachers, providing a valuable platform to introduce the project.   • Dr. Dora Katsamori, on behalf of NCSR-D, participated in the CoE’s “Artificial Intelligence and Education_3rd Working Conference” which took place on October 8 & 9, 2025, in Strasbourg, as member of the CoE working group on AI & Education. The Conference addressed the two key questions: Why does Europe need a Common AI Framework for Education? How will the Council of Europe Compass for AI and Education contribute to ensuring responsible, ethical and human-centric uses of AI?   • Dr. Ahmet Göçen from the Genc STEM Association was a speaker at the Regional eTwinning Conference hosted by the University of Florence, Italy, on April 11, 2025 Dr. Dr. Göçen presented the results of the YouthGovAI initiative, which was highlighted as a best-practice case study for LMS creation.   • ALFA team engaged students into a series of interactive activities, introducing the YouthGovAI project and touching upon the contemporary challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence. The initiative was part of a wider event, a large-scale urban treasure hunt at the historic heart of Genoa. The event was organized by Confartigianato Genova, in collaboration with the Orientamenti programme and the Genoa Chamber of Commerce,on April 15, 2025, as part of the national celebrations for the Giornata del Made in Italy.   • Dr. Dora Katsamori, on behalf of NCSR-D, participated in the International Conference “The Role of Academia in Promoting Child Rights”. The event took place on 6 & 7 June, 2025 and was co-organized by the UNICEF Greece Country Office and University of Patras. During her presentation she presented the YouthGovAIproject as well as some initial data of the survey that was implemented at national level and was addressed to youth, exploring their knowledge and attitudes towards the use of AI.   • Holger Haberstock and Laszlo Kovats from Eurosoc#DIGITAL attended the guiding a project day at the Kaufmännische Schule Rheine in Germany, on 26 June, 2025. As part of the YouthGovAIteam, together with the students of the 12th grade of the Wirtschaftsgymnasium, the central question: What opportunities does AI offer for our future, and what risks accompany it? All activities aligned with the core mission of YouthGovAI: empowering young people to actively engage with AI, question it, understand it, and ultimately shape it for the common good.More information about the project day is available here.
  • Ahmet Göçen from the Genc STEM Association was invited to speak on the topic of AI ethics and teacher training, at the 16th eTwinning National Conference. The event took place in Antalya 9-11 December, 2025 with the support of the EU Commission and the Ministry of National Education in Türkiye. Mr. Göçen introduced the YouthGovAI/ Erasmus Plus project and delivered a training session for teachers focused on the intersection of AI, human cognition, and ethical frameworks.
